- There was a big winde in 1839. There were houses blown down and people killed with branches falling off the rees along the roads.
There was a big snow storm also in 1839 and there were people employed by the government to get the snow away off the roads. The time of the year in which the storm occurred was in the end of autumn and in the beginning of winter. it was snowing for about a month and people were got dead in the snow when they could not get through. There was thunder and lightening, there were cattle killed and lives lost, and houses damaged with the lightning.
