   Soon after another knock came to the door and when it was opened a women came in and three horns on her forehead.
   They did not cease coming in until twelve of them came in and the last of them had twelve horns on her forehead. They all sat in a circle round the fire.

   "Get us something to eat" said one of them to the woman of the house.
   "I have nothing in the house, God help me," said she "for myself or the children"
   "Go out and bring in the cow," said one of the fairy woman.
   Two of the fairy women went out for the cow.
   "You old hag" said one of the fairy woman to the woman of the house, "go and bring water to boil her."

   The woman got a vessel & went to the well.
   As she was going to lift the water she saw a man at the far side of the well.
   "Well, my poor woman," said he, "you have a good set to-night."
   "I have, indeed" said she. "God help me."
   "When you go in," said he, "with this water, throw it on the fire & say "Tá an Rai le themidh," They will leave then but you must be sure to bar the door when they go. But before you do this throw out the feet
