  2. The best singers around here were Peter Gillan and Patrick Mac Mahon. They went to dances in the neighbouring houses such as in John Duffy's at Carrachanra. Thomas Duffy and Joe Lamb went to the dance and told stories. Thomas Duffy could mow an acre of corn in a day. He was the best mower in the district.
