    When a man wanted to get his daughter married to a neigbour's son he never spoke to the son's father about the wedding utnil he met him in a fair or market. Then he took him into a public house and stood him a few drinks and told him he wanted to get his daughter married to his son. They usually settled whether the marriage should take place or not.
    When the couple were going to get married the intended husband took a man of his own age with him and that man was called a "black-foot". His business was to do most of the talking and to ask for a fortune.
    When the morning of the wedding came there was a large crowd of friends and neighbours at the chapel. When they got married they went to a neigh-
