“Long ago in Ireland the people had many parties and feasts especially when there was a wedding.”

The man that told me this said he saw a wedding and there were fifteen side-cars at it and when they were going to the town they were competing to see whose horse ran the fastest.When the husband and wife came home, the wife had a party and they had a supper of soup, meat and potatoes. About twelve o'clock a band of people called "wattlers" with straw hats came to the house playing pipes dancing and singing. When they were finished they were invited into the house and they got a bottle of stout or a glass of whiskey.
