- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)estate, within two miles of the town of Clones, there grows an herb, with a leaf similar to that of the bog - bean, and a piece of this applied to a corn will cure it.
To cure rheumatism the nettles have to be boiled and the juice of them to be taken. To cure pleurisy they have to be taken similarly. To cure the sting of an nettle the leaf of a docken has to be well rubbed on the sting.
There are no traditions believed in this district with regards to why any flower or herb has any special colour, etc, etc.
Hemlock, if put into the ears of a person, will kill him.
I do not know of any herb used for dyeing purposes.
Nettles, when nicely boiled make quite as nice a dish as cabbages.- Bailitheoir
