Meat was not used very much, but whenever it was used it was always about a week old. Cow's meat was mostly eaten. Fish was eaten sometimes. Vegatables were seldom eaten. The people did not, as a rule, eat late at night. I have never heard of special kinds of food being eaten at certain occasions, except egg - eating on Easter Sunday. I do not know when tea was first used in this district. Tin porringers, and wooden vessels were used before cups were common.
