- Farm Animals
Our farm animals consist of a cow, a horse, a sow.
We call our cow the "Red Cow". When calling we say "Cheh, Cheh", and when driving we say "How How". We call the cow-house the byre. The cow is tied round the neck by means of a chain. A horse shoe is lucky to have in the byre.
You should sing while milking. If it happens that a child should drop a grain of sugar into the milk no butter would come on the churn.
If a horse should put out the left foot first you would have no luck in the fair that day.
When calling the hens we say "Tuk, Tuk", and when calling the ducks you say "Wheet, Wheet," when calling the turkeys you say "Pea, Pea", and when chasing the geese say (say) "Shillegg, Shillegg",(continues on next page)- Collector
