- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Nails were also made long ago in Johnstown. They were made in the house where Mr Burke now has his shop. The men who made them bought nail-iron from local blacksmiths, and then they were able to make all classes of nails.
Journey-men tailors, were tailors who went from one place to another, and they would stop at one tailor's, and stop there and make clothes, and then go to some other tailor's.
Rope-making was also carried on in this locality. Ropes were made from fivre which grew in Maryborough, and it was twisted tightly together and it made a rope.- Bailitheoir
