- The wild birds most common in our district are :- The Robin, blackbird wren Crow, lark, thrush, swallow, corncrake, and the cuckoo. The swallow, corncrake and cuckoo emigrate in the end of summer. The robin builds a very nice nest in a bank, it lays four eggs, they are coloured white with brown spots. The blackbird makes her nest of and clay she lays a green egg with brown spots. The wren builds a very neat nest in an old house or low down in a ditch, It makes a hole in the side of the nest. The nest is made of moss, she lays about six eggs, they are white with brown spots. The crow builds a very untidy nest of sticks, she builds her nest on a high tree-top She lays four eggs, they are white. All these birds sit on their eggs for three weeks.
