- I was told this story about a graveyard. There was a boy one day going rambling. He passed through a graveyard as a short cut. He saw a skull and he gave it a kick, and the skull spoke these words.
"As you are now so once was I,"
"You should pray for me as you pass by."
The boy was sorry for what he did and ever after he never forgot to pray for the dead when passing through the graveyard.- Bailitheoir

- It is believed that St. Patrick in one of his crossings of the Shannon near Drumboylan was hissed at by an enormous serpent in the river. It is related that St Patrick chained him to a rock in the bed of the river and there he remains. It is also said that every seventh year, he gives a plunge, and drenches any person, or object, within reach. He is supposed to be at a point that is called, where the three Shannon's meet.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
