    Ned Fortune on being asked how he spelled Shanbogh did so in eight different ways.
    He was convinced that only one of them could be right, but he didn't care which.
    Pronunciation
    He stated that all the old people called it Sham-bock.
    Meaning
    Ned had the notion that the word had something to do with Bo, a cow - from the English pronunciation. He could not make this correspond with the Sham-bock of the old people and was visibly relieved to be informed that the old pronunciation was the correct one.
    Carmina
    He never heard the name "Carmina" mentioned.
