- There are two forges in this parish, one in Kyle besdie the Creamery & the other at Bans cuab, at the cross-roads.
Kyle forge, about a mile from the village, is owned by Mr Jim Lee & the other, about three miles at the Kilkenny side, is owned by Mr Micky Moore, but worked by Mr Paddy Pender. - Forge-water cures warts. If the smith is seven generations back, he can cure rickets.
There is no particular shape on the door
Some people send them gifts.
The smith is a very strong man.

- If sparks flew at you from the red-hot iron, it is said that you are to get money.
- Mr Lee's forge is near the Creamery. The roof is of felt. There is one fireplace within. The implements are the sledge, tongs, hammer, rasp & pliers. He shoes horses & asses & mends plows & harrows for the farmers.
