  1. Forts are very common around Gowran & fairies are supposed to have lived in them. One night a drunken man was passing one & heard beautiful music, in he went; & he could not believe his eyes when he saw a merry little crowd kicking football. When an hour was they all went into a little room in a tunnel. There was all sorts of refreshments laid out on a table & the Queen sat at one end & the King in the other. When they had finished they set out to dance & believe me the man never felt the night going but he was never seen again.
