- On a small pond where wild fowl are in the habit of feeding, they can sometimes be caught by means of small pieces of raw potatoes. The piece is cut square and of such a size that the duck or pigeon will be able to swallow it, but only with great difficulty. A piece of strong fine cord is tied around the piece of potato and pegged to the ground at the other end. The piece of potato is allowed to remain on the mud of the pond.
