- In former times the people of this locality had various remedies for curing certain ailments such as whooping cough or toothache or measles. The remedy the old people had for curing toothache was to gather the green scum of bog-holes and apply it to the tooth. A local remedy for curing whooping-cough was to boil a hedge-hog in milk but not to let the affected person known about it and then give him (him) the milk to drink. Another remedy for curing whooping-cough was to put a frog in an airtight bottle and as the frog withered away so also would the whooping-cough go. A local cure for measles was to ask the rider of a white horse for a remedy and no matter how foolish the remedy he gave was it was sure to cure the sufferer.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
