    by bathing their affected parts with its water. Herbs were used by the people very much in former years especially by the people of this district. There is a herb out of which a remedy is got for curing cancer. This cure is handed down from one generation to another and it is the only remedy by which cancer can be cured. A Croagh Phádraic leaf is supposed to be a cure for blisters. The seventh son or daughter in a family is said to have a cure for a ring worm. A posthumous child has a cure for a sore mouth. There were the chief cures used by the old people of the district and some of them are still used.
