Slievcroe my native village is in the townland of Drimnalasson, the parish of Kilcolman and the barony of Costello. There are six families resident in the village. There are twenty-three people. There are three thatched houses, one roofed with galvanised iron, one tiled and one slated.
In olden times there was a turf mountain in my village. When the turf was all cut away the people tilled the mountain until they made it into good land. The old people called the village by the Irish name Sliabruad.
There are three old people over seventy years of age still living. They are Philip Doherty, Mrs. Grady and Mrs. Cassidy. They are able to speak Irish.
People were more numerous in the village in former times than at present. Tommie Gordon, John Murphy, Michael Fowey, James Mannion, Kate Duffy, John Dwyer, John Callaghan, Michael Greevy and Owen(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
