    This means that a rainbow in the morning is the sign of a storm. A rainbow in the night is the sign of good weather. If the wind is from the south, south east or south west it is the sign of rain. If it is from the north it is the sign of snow and if from the east the sign of frost.
    If there is one curlew by itself in bad weather and it screeching it is a sign that the weather will get fine. If the swallows or crows fly low it is the sign of rain. If the wild geese come early they bring an early winter with them. If the crane leaves the fog and goes to the lake it is a sign of fine weather. If the seagulls go to the log it is the sign of good weather.
    When the cat scrapes the twig or timber or when the dog eats grass it is the sign of rain.
    If far off hills appear near it is the sign or rain.
