    muslin cloth to squeeze the water out of it. Then it was blended together with flour. The old people used to call the grated potatoes "rasp".
    In making potato cake boiled potatoes were peeled and were broken into dough with the bottom of a saucepan then flour was mixed in with the potato dough. The potato cake and the boxty were baked on a griddle.
    Oaten meal bread was made with soft water and oatmeal. The oatmeal was wet with the soft water and blended into very thick dough. It was left near the fire with a block at the back of it to keep it firm.
    The women used to make a supply of bread that would do for the day. When a cake was made the sign of the cross was cut on the top of it. The name given to the vessel in which the cakes were baked in olden times was a pot-oven.
