"Landlords"
In the history of our country we see many causes of strife and discontentment for the Irish farmers. Landlordism was the chief of these. At many times during English invasions the land was taken from the native Irish and given to settlers from England and Scotland. This work was called "planting". The principle (?) "plantation" was the Cromwellian Settlement which took place in 1653. The reason why the Crom-wellian Settlement is so im-portant is, because the landlords of the present day are the direct descendants of the settlers of that period.
