  1. Old people tell us that in olden times, only three meals were partaken of each day - breakfast, dinner and supper. Breakfast was eaten about nine o'clock, dinner at mid-day, and supper between seven and eight o'clock, or whenever they had completed their work.
    When they used to rise every morning, they did not eat their breakfast immediately after, but went out in their farms, and worked for a couple of hours. Breakfast consisted of potatoes and new-milk. These potatoes were often boiled since the previous night, so that the following morning, they were only re-
