   rhododendron and laurel bloomed luxuriously through wooded slope by wall and rampart. Hungry holiday makers forgot everything in the beauty of the place.
   There was no thought of lunch now, no thought of the recognised scenic grandeur of the journey yet to be traversed to the Glen - nay no thought of the unwholesome climate of Nigeria and the many danger and difficulties to be encountered in working in the Harvest of God in that land of gloom, of sadness, and paganism. The Soldier of Christ is never daunted by such ennobling hardships, but in a place like Carriganassaig, he forgets them altogether, if only for a while.
   Yonder is the castle, gaunt, ivy-clad, its turrets shattered, its battlements in ruins. Its proud days are past. Yet if stands a proud defiance to the enemies of an unconquered race.
