“In the fair month of June when the trees were in bloom, Mr Beecher consented to Bereheaven to go.”
The following poem was composed about 80 years ago about A Regatta held in Berehaven. A boat from Crookhaven pulled in the Regatta and won the race. It is supposed to have been composed by the Berehaven school MasterIn the fair month of June when the trees were in bloom,
Mr Beecher consented to Bereheaven to go.
He was challenged for racing for rowing or sailing
By the heads of Berehaven those Sullivans you know

Mr Hungerfort coxswain he steered the gig for them
And soon the Berehaveners astern did go
As they were mistaken by the lads from Crookhaven
