This thunder storm started very unexpectedly. It lasted 7 hours. It started at eleven o'clock and continued all night 'till 6 o'clock in the morning It was also accompnaied by hail and rain. Although the night was very dark the lightning that was nearly going constantly made it almost as bright as day.
Rivers overflowed their banks, got blocked in some places and also broke bridges. Many people who had crops in low lands near the rivers suffered much loss
Growing wheat and corn that was nearly ripe was destroyed in such a way that there wasn't as much as a sheaf of it brought into the haggart. It was threshed well that night.
Big churns of sweet milk were soured. At morning the milk was as hard as a rock inside in the churns, but they say if it was stirred with a clean spade it would(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
