Great Walkers:-
Thirty years ago a great walker dwelt in "Sgeach an Óir," Ballydehob. Prizes were offered for speedy walkers, and he generally won. His name was Mr. Lawrence Griffin.

Great jumpers:-
A famous local jumper of former days was Mr. D. Mahony Dreenlomane. He won many prizes in Cork and other places, and his landlord boasted of the jumper's strength His family is now the leading sportsmen in the locality, one of them is Danno.

Dancers:-
A great dancer in this locality is Mr. M. Mahony, Rathravane. He was taught by an old dancing-master in Ballydehob, and he won medals at Feiseanna. Amongst his favourite steps are Irish Reels, Hornpipes, and jigs.

Mowers:-
Mr. T. Burke and Mr. E. Driscoll, Dreenlomane were regarded as the best mowers in the locality. They generally mowed two acres of hay in the day.
