- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)kept lighting by bits of sticks. One day the hunter fell asleep by the fire and the white bear thought it a good chance to quench the fire and in doing so, banish the hunter. So he rolled over the fire until no flame remained. He then went his way contented as the fire was quenched, and that no match was available. The robin fanned the tiny spark which remained with its little wings, and so kept the fire alive, but the bird went too near to the spark and scorched its breast. It is said that the robin's breast is ever since red."
