   is situated near a hay-yard and many years ago the owner of the farm was drawing in hay and he was in a hurry to finish the drawing in the hay as it was late in the evening and time to stop, as he let one cock of hay on top of the well because it was dark and he did not notice where he let the cock and in the morning when he awoke the cock of hay was removed away from the well. Then the man learned it was not right to put the cock of hay on the well, so he set to work and fenced in, all round the well and is so to the present day.

   St Abbie had a bowl in her church and the people of Ballyvourney carried it home when their cows or horses were sick because this was a miraculous bowl and it would cure anything that was sick. When these people carried it home they were very careless about where they put it, when they were done with it they threw it in the stall or stable or some other place around the yard.

   When St Abbie heard this she was very angry and she took it away altogether and put it in the wall of the church and anyone could not stir it out of the place where she put it and people go to see it to the present
