- Long ago when the Danes were in Ireland they made a beautiful drink called beer out of the heath. It failed the Irish people to discover the secret of how they made the beer. The Danes would not give away the secret under any persuasion or persecution.When the Danes had departed from Ireland there remained only one old man and his son then the people came around the father and son trying to get them to tell the secret. By any possible chance they would not tell the secret. The son would not tell the secret even though they offered him money and lands only to divulge the secret.
