“It is thought unlucky to 'remove' on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)If you met a funeral while walking you should turn back and walk a few paces with it.
You should not cross a person's body while stretched or he may not grow anymore.
Never cross the body of a person in a fit of "fallen sickness" or you might take the sickness.
If a member of a family is dying of consumption all the other living members should leave the house while he is actually dying, as the old people believed the living members might "take" the disease.
The water with which you wash your feet at night should be thrown out, and if possible by the person who washes the feet.
When you get a hair cut, you should collect all the hair and place it in some hole in the wall or somewhere where you may be able to get it again, as the old people say you might have to come back for it after leaving this world and you should know where to find it.
If a tooth falls from a "youngster" he should bless himself and throw the tooth over his head, or his teeth may not grow again.- Bailitheoir
