- There is only one tailor in my district. His name is John Daly. He works only in his own house. He does not stock cloth but he keeps patterns of suitings and the customers pick out the pattern they want and he sends away for that. Cloth is not made locally but it was in olden times. The implements the tailors use are. a needle and thread a thimble, a chalk to mark the cloth, a scissors, a lap board, an iron and a sewing machine. Shirts are still made in the homes. They are made of flanelette. Shirts were made of flax in olden times and they were very good for wearing. Flax sheets were also made and there are some of them in the country yet. Relatives wear black clothes at a funeral and they wear all light colours for weddings.
