- Herbs:Thistles, bainne na n-ean and ferns are the most harmful weeds in land. Thistles spread rapidly and let nothing else grow. They grow in rich land. Bainne na n-ean gros in wet land and is said to be poisonous. Ferns grow in poor dry land. When stung by a nettle a dock leaf would cure it if rubbed to the sting.
