Saint Craebhnat; of which there were many stories told. One being that when the tree shook on stormy nights a bell was heard ringing, and so the people had a dread of passing it after nightfall. In 1834 a violent storm broke down much of the tree when a bell was found partly over grown with ivy which had concealed it. The bell was supposed to be the chapel bell which had been hidden there after the destruction of the Church. A custom existed of taking chippings from this tree in the belief that anyone is possession of a portion of it could not be drowned. This custom arose from a legend that Saint Craebhnat saved some persons from drowning. This tree has entirely disappeared. The present handsome Church at Clenor
