If the smoke goes to the ground it is a sign of rain and if it goes up straight it is the sign of fine weather. The North wind brings cold weather. The South wind brings rain. The North east wind brings snow.
When we hear the Curlews it is the sign of very bad weather. The people say if the pea-cock comes to high ground we will have rain.
