  1. Local Cures.

People of the locality have still faith in the following cures:-
    1. Thrush or sore mouth in babies. They keep the gander inside in the house for nine days, and then let him breathe into the child's mouth, and the thrush will vanish.
    2. Stye in the eye. Rub your fasting spit to it for nine mornings, or to look through your mother's wedding ring for nine mornings.
    3. Headache. Rub white vinegar on brown paper and lay it on the forehead.
    4. Sore eyes. Wash them with cold tea, and some people go to St. Colman's well, and wash their eyes with the water, after sunset on two Saturday evenings.
    5. Stomach. Dried dandelion. Draw it like tea and drink it when it is cold.
    6. Sprain. Pour cold water from a height down on it.
