There are two forges in Broadford They are situated at the cross-roads.
Smith's names}=The smiths' names are Mr. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Dillane
roof= There is a thatched roof in Mr. Dillane's forge and felt and boards on Mr. Fitzpatrick's.
implements - The implements in the forges are - anvil, bellows, pincers, sledge, hammer, pritchel, fire and boring machine. Adjoining the forge there is a round flag with a hole in the middle of it to which there is a screw attaching for banding the wheels.
bellows - There is a bellows near it to blow the fire to redden the bands. The smiths make ploughs, harrows and shoe horses. Banding the wheels is the only work done in the open air. The smoke or sparks never effect the smith's eyes because they refused to make the nails to hang Our Lord on the Cross.
