- There are not many old ruins in my district for they were knocked down with age from time to time. There is one which is still standing. It is situated about a mile in from the road and is supposed to be built over a thousand years ago. The four walls are still standing but the roof is supposed to burned by the black and tans in the year 1916. It is the remains of an old chapel and priests and monks lived there and mass was supposed to be said every morning. The name of the place is Claun Ice and is in the parish of Castlemahon, Co. Limerick. There are no windows in it and there is only one door. Many shots were fired there and that is why there are no windows. It was built by very rich people and many attempts were(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
