    Shrove is supposed to be the luckiest time for marriage customs to take place. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the unlucky days while May and October are the unlucky months. People made matches during this time, and then everyone had the story that such a person was going match-making

    Then when the match was made there was great excitement in the district. The people such as those who were expecting to be invited to the wedding were very hard at work. Ball dresses were to be made and fashioned and presents were to be got for the bride. Before the marriage took place the bride had to have a hundred pounds and a feather tick because, then she was supposed to be to most comfortable woman in the district

    Sometimes a cow is give for good luck. Then when the marriage was celebrated a great feast was held. The best fiddler in the parish was invited to play. While the wedding feast was in progress a number of young boys would dress up
