    O'Brien who, it is believed was a direct descendant of the Cromwellian setler. When the tenants were buying their holdings, the Commission first purchased the claim O'Brien. It is interesting to note too that though Lloyd was the landlord, he received comparatively little money for the estate. He having had it heavily mortgaged, with a Mr Hartigan an Auctioneer of Limerick. Hartigan gave the mortgage to his daughter Mrs Blake as a wedding present. Therefore when Mrs. Blake's money was paid what remained of the purchase money to Captain Lloyd was very little.
    It is believed that portion of the house now owned by Mr. John Devane (Towerhill House) dates back to the Cromwelliam days. There is a story told of the Cromwellian settler
