- The district of Borrisokane is rich in Folklore and there is a story confirmed by our Grandparents as to a crock of gold received by a boy named White from one of the "Goodpeople" while in the neighbourhood of a fort about three miles outside Borrisokane in a place called Eglish [Aglish?]. The story goes that one day as White was crossing the field a little man called him and presented him with a crock of gold, but he warned him not to tell anyone where he got it. The boy took the gold and when he went home, his people were very surprised and asked him where he got it. The boy related the story and immediate he was struck dumb. This story was told eighty years ago. Up to the time the gold was got the Whites were very poor, but after that they were very rich, so that proves the boy received the gold.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
