Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Travelling folk still come to my district and are doing so for the past 50 years. They are generally fairly poor and sell small articles such as floor-mats, saucepans, gallons, small statues etc. They make the gallons them-selves and buy the other articles in Limerick. They are generally welcome and nearly every-one buys some article from them and they also give them alms such as: bread, meat, or potatoes which they accept with great thanks.
In former times two families of "Travellers" known as the McCarthys and Delahneys [sic] visited this district every week. They generally came for a fair or market and brought news from one part of the country to another.
