- About seventeen years ago a big flood rolled down the slopes of Slievenamon. No one knew what caused such a big flood, but it was thought that a cloud must have burst on the mountain. The flood destroyed crops and tore up the roads. It brought enormous rocks from the mountain to the roads. The roads were impassible for a few days. Then a lot of men were employed in repairing the roads and mending the bridges. The river Anner overflowed its banks, and took away large quantities of hay. The postman who was delivering the mail was held up until the next day. And when he went back the people would not believe him that there was such a flood because there was scarcely any rain in the surrounding district.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
