Local Happenings (ar lean)
“The greatest happening I have heard of is the burning of the woman in Ballyvadlea cottage. Her name was Mrs Cleary.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)After a while they knew they could not burn her. Then they thought it best to bury her in a blind boreen about a mile north of the cottage, there they dug a hole and put her into it.
Next day they told the people around that she was gone away with the fairies on a white horse on to Kylenagrana forth. At night time all the people went to the fort to take her from the fairies, where she was about to appear at twelve o'clock in the night. Her father and husband were to lead the way.
