  2. The lime-kiln was built by a mason composed of stone and mortar. They were of various heights and sizes from eight to fifteen feet, and six to to ten feet in which with a hole of three to five feet running through the centre of this building and an exit at the bottom. The exit at the bottom was not half as large as the one on top. The oldest inhibition of this locality never remember one to be built which proves that they must be of very ancient structure. The lime kiln was used to burn lime as lime was the principle manure in olden days for wheat was the principle food at the people in those days, and wheat could not have grown with success only for lime. Lime is got from stone namely limestone which is only found in certain districts which of times had to be drawn to kiln and broken in boulders
