Pad told the story and learned how this man was for a ride with the fairies one night and that he was allowed have a smoke some where and that he left his tobacco and pen knife after him. He said he could never mistake the knife as it was a present he got from his brother in England. Pad was allowed keep the knife and asked the other man all about his hunt with the fairies. Foxy did not believe the story but said he would find out all for himself. A few nights afterwards he went down to the moat and wailed for the fairies and sure enough just at mid night as he was beginning to doze off the fairies came all around him. They had some of the most beautiful horses. Some of the prettiest and tiniest little creatures and some of them find large powerful animals as beautiful as ever were the King's horses. The tiny horses were each carrying a fairy rider but the other were riderless but were saddled and bridled in silver and gold mounted harnesses.
