When the parties met they called for a drink of whiskey or porter. While they were having the drink they talked over the match. The bride's Father asked how many acres of land, how many cows would he graze, how much was the rent and rates, and how much money he wanted. The bridegroom answering the questions said he wanted a certain amount of money and if he didn't get that it would be no match.
