    In the year 1847 there was a famine in the country. The potatoes all rotted in the heaps. There was plenty corn in the country but the people had to sell it to make the rent for the landlord. The following year the people had no seed potatoes to sow them, so England sent over potatoes but they were not much bigger than seeds of corn. The people shook them on the soil like you would sow corn and they had a great crop that year. Then a disease called "Cholera" set in amongst the people and
