Long ago, instead of going in their "cúaird" on Sundays the young boys of the parish challenged each other, in activity and bodily strength. The most common games were, Footballing, Hurling, Bowling, Throwing weights and running.
The best hurlers were, Peter Glynn, Michael O'Grady, Jack Learnan and Jack Doyle's father. The best footballers were, John Trousdell, Thomas Finucane, Jack Halvey and Peter Flanigan. The best bolers were, Michael Howard, Michael Considine and Jack Melican. The best runners were, Peter Glynn, Jack Carey and Roland Learnan.
