- Long ago there were very few main roads in this district. The people made old roads and paths between the main roads for short cuts. The people when making these roads worked for a penny half-penny or two pence a day or for a few ozs. of meal["s" struck out]. This was in the year of the famine. There was one of these roads starting near Bid Regan's Clonreddan and goes east to Thomas O Grady Shyan and then north to Martin Mc Namara's. The women used to work in these roads also.
