    "Sheebeens" in Leitrim, one at the mouth of Kelly's avenue and the other near Molly Browne's house. They were owned by Mary McGrath and Bidsy McCarthy. All sorts of drink in these "Sheebeens" The most important drink they sold was "Pooteen". It was home made whiskey made from barley. Whiskey was only four pence a glass at that time. Long ago "peddlers" went around the country selling pins and needles and taking rags in exchange. There were three of them in this district namely :– James Dwyer, Tom Sprink, and "Tadġ a Dalṫa"
